For Fellowship and Relaxation, we are grateful…

Those are carob chips, in oatmeal, good for you!
She did sneak a bit of sausage and eggs from the buffet also.

Navigator started her day with a nourishing breakfast, after traversing down to the first floor, and then accompanied Sis to her class of five year olds for Sunday School at Praise Cathedral in Greer.

No, we do not take the elevator to our 6th floor room.
We also do not take it down to the first floor from the 6th.

The class was refreshing, and reminded navigator that even in this high technology age a five-year-old can relax and be a child.

This teacher enjoyed her job so much with the children… such a bright smile!
She has worked many years volunteering with the young ones.
She has her own rocking chair in the classroom from where she reads many stories to them to assist with the spiritual growth.
We moved our base of action to to K&W Cafeteria, joining our relatives for a wonderful Southern lunch!
The selections go on and on…
Turkey and dressing, turnip greens, wonderful tossed salad, broccoli casserole, deviled eggs, and sweet potato pie again!
Tablemates had the chopped beef steak, fried flounder, mashed potatoes, hush puppies, tossed salad, and pecan pie😋
We were so hungry that none of us took pictures of this food, but you can get the gist by looking at the list above.

One day later…Greenville has been a good experience also,
too short, and Navigator was unable to visit
all she had planned to, but seeing family is number one. Plus, both her and Captain having to take a break from it all for R and R, decreased the visit by 2 days.
Thanks to my special sister for making it great!

Here’s to perseverance for all of you!
Skyline View from our room as we head off again!
Look at all those folks sharing the happiness of just being in the South!
The surroundings will do that for you!
La Quinta Inn has been welcoming.
Friendly staff.
This sweet doggie wished his Farewell also as he looked at us through his fence.
I heard that he was 13 years old, and his owner had passed away in 2009, but a loving neighbor took him in.
His name was Scruffy; appropriate since he was a real scrapper, and was a rescue dog who had been abused.
Good-bye Scruffy, you were loved😇

I say get on down, get on down the road, ya’all!

More to come…

Hot Dogs and BBQ Beyond Compare…

This is a famous Little Texas Grocery hot dog called “all the way” in the south, with onions mustard, chili, and, of course, a juicy weiner inside the bun!
Hey! Hold the beans, we are not in the West!
We are at Little Texas grocery!
They do “them” hot dogs up just right😋!
Stopped for hot dogs today, and this evening I am going back for BBQ; hold the bun please
I sure hope they’re not out of it already😕!

Short, sweet,and to the point!

Pineapple Bag and Grande are sitting waiting on our barbecue, and the Captain will now get himself a hot dog, since the Navigator had one earlier.
The Famous Ones have a new friend called Raggedy Ann.
This amazing girl actually lives in the Little Texas Grocery, and greets everyone who comes by to partake of this wonderful fare.

Little Texas Grocery pulled pork with diced onion, their homemade coleslaw, and the delicious sauce.
Navigator and Captain prefer the barbecue without the bun.
What a great place!
On State Park Road in Travelers Rest, South Carolina!
Lots of customers.
These wonderful pies have gone commercial with the same great quality made by local folks,
and sold in some of the festivals.
The captain enjoyed one that was heated, and had a fresh cup of coffee with it.
Such great service from J. & A.; a good team.
A. was alone the second time we went today, and she was very efficient with the customers coming and going…
Mike and Jeff evidently have another place on the Buncombe…
Their unsweet tea is excellent also Captain said.
We did not try the boiled peanuts, but heard good reviews.

Navigator is proud to have these folks on her blog, and information about their services.

Food is excellent, food is served with sanitary practices, with great customer service!

Thank you for allowing us to be your customers at the Little Texas Grocery!

Keep up the great work!

Sweet Sister, you were sure right about those yummy hot dogs, plus we discovered the BBQ when we went there!

These special animals will be back soon!

DO NOT FORGET, you all!
Come and eat with us frequently in our friendly little dining room, or do some great take out.

How about a little more rain…

71 degrees and 94% humidity; what’s your thoughts on it may rain😁

Shared breakfast conversation with a great person from Charlotte.

A favorite topic of taking care of ourselves, preventing damage from diabetes, and exercise.

Moderation in all, and actually abstaining from some foods, is key.

Now, down to the treadmill to get a little warm up of the system, and watch Food Network.

“We sure hope that Pioneer Woman is on so we can learn about some more scrumptious snacks!”

MORE to come, you all!

Taking it easy today…

Good homemade oatmeal this a.m. to start the day.

Navigator went to the fitness center, treadmill and elliptical, while watching Chopped on the Food Channel. Last evening while exercising, I had watched cupcake competitions. This is a treat for me, as we do not have cable at home.

My cooking is not so bad, but I thought you would enjoy this!

Sweet 16 gluten-free, no added sugar brownies for my granddaughters birthday.
Turned out well, and actually tasted very good; I can’t believe that was four years ago.
Pineapple Bag and Grande’ are really excited that Captain and the Navigator are gearing up to start the road trip again!
Tomorrow the day is started with breakfast with my sis at Waffle House.
Then back to her place to collect plants that she is sharing with us- thanks Sis!
The Famous ones are already worrying that we will leave them on the curb, a day late and a dollar short😁
They can’t wait to get back to the mini-farm and watch the beautiful birds, plus the tiny hummingbird family.
A nice beverage nook in a cozy corner here.
More in the lobby along with fresh apples and lemon water.
You know what they say about an apple a day…
…and a banana and potassium😊
A small amount of laundry while we are traveling can build into a larger amount, so while I am running up and down the stairs here at the hotel checking the washer and dryers, I’m snapping pictures, and this one caught my eye.
The question is, “Is this beautiful group of succulents alive?”
Well, the day is ending shortly, and I’ll be thinking of you and what you might enjoy in my blog tomorrow…
Reporting off here in order to fold laundry.
The Navigator- Captain sends his regards😊

Down the Road…

Ventured out and about to seek early dinner…folks here call it supper.

The captain pointed out the sign as we entered the Southern Fried Green Tomatoes restaurant…

They definitely have some healthy options for folks.
We chose some middle of the road, along with blackened salmon and mango salsa, which the Navigator failed to get a picture of🙄
Chicken breast with Sawmill gravy, along with asparagus casserole and fresh green beans.

We did not, I repeat did not, eat any of the caramel cake with buttercream frosting in the Showcase.
The captain’s dessert was a little dish of what they call sweet potato souffle similar to sweet potato pie without the crust, topped with a few marshmallows.
We talked all of this off with a long walk at the Haywood Mall.
Met several customer-oriented employees at Dillard’s, a high-end department store with amazing sales right now.
Service with a smile, and very efficient also.
Good salesperson qualities.
Dillard’s Management, I am sure you appreciate this young woman😊
She convinced us to purchase something really special for our son-in-law.

Sis was one of their best salespersons before she had to retire to take care of our special Mama.
Great sales on name brands, but my sis keeps Navigator in lots of clothes.
I like Southern Lady, Ruby Road, and Allison Daley.
Jessica Simpson sells her clothes here, and they are actually a good deal.
A few more for ladies to ogle at, these are definitely not my style.

Let’s remember that the Spirit of God makes the person, not the clothes.😇
Pineapple Bag and Grande’ where ecstatic to see this. What beautiful eyelashes they said!
Navigator and Captain took them out once, but it was too hot to linger in the sun today.
They were treated to a red velvet cupcake at the Southern Fried Green Tomatoes.
It was gobbled quickly before I could get a picture, so I had to settle for one through the desert showcase.
Can’t do anything this sweet, but I think a lot of folks enjoy it!
Homemade biscuits and cornbread.
The restaurant was recommended to us by staff at the La Quinta Inn, because an employee had them cater her wedding.
Friendly folks, great service…
We will head on back to the hotel, to rest and then mosey on down to the fitness room.
A refreshing 3 Mile Walk throughout the mall.
We had to smell Cinnabon, Pretzel Company, Haagen-Dazs ice cream, Sbarro, and Greek food, but could fight the urge because we had our wonderful Southern Fried Green Tomato Restaurant food!
Thank you folks!
Lastly, if southern women aren’t cooking good food, they are doing ceramics of good food, like this strawberry cake…

Checking in at the La Quinta…

Beautiful garden area here at the La Quinta Inn Greenville, South Carolina.
Wax begonias and Wandering J, plants of my childhood.
We’re all about good customer service, and this place seems top-notch.
Better prices than some of the upper end competitors, and definitely better service.
Let me tell you that price does not necessarily mean quality.
…Comments from The Travelers, who have seen a lot😊

After all of us check out the lay of the land, we plan to have late lunch and early dinner at the Southern Fried Green Tomatoes restaurant nearby.

Pineapple Bag and Grande’ thoroughly enjoy the beautiful garden area with the gazebo.

A picture taking session with our famous Duo will be taking place this afternoon or tomorrow a.m.

Navigator is enjoying a computer session at the business center here, while Captain takes a much-needed nap after serious driving.

80 degrees and 53% humidity

A Southern lunch with my Sister’s Cronies…

Another word for her bestest Buddies! What sweet people; made the Captain and the Navigator feel very welcomed🤗

They also thought that Pineapple Bag’s blog was very cute.

My South, as you have probably already noticed, is all about family, friends, and food… and a lot of Jesus!

The table was set so pretty, but we took our meal gathered around the large dining table. Nine of us all smiling, and talking at once, and eating at the same time of course!

She shared her home; cooked good southern food, and kept all laughing. The captain was the only guy, but felt right at home.
This is called cornbread salad and those are cherry tomatoes, not maraschino cherries on the top.
Full of pintos, corn, peppers, cornbread of course, and a flavorful dressing, Etc.
Everyone got leftovers because in addition to this you will see more..

A extra large crock pot full of chicken and dumplings. She went all out with the meal!
That’s called Lemon Lush dessert.
You lemon lovers out there, It Takes the Cake, I mean dessert🤣

Continuing tour…Part of The Powder Room.

Along with all of this, there was also a homemade banana bread, too yummy to believe.

As we ate, there were discussions about an upcoming Cruise of two of the cronies who had never been on one, talk of grandchildren and children, plus how to get on Pineapple Bag’s blog.

The hostess also gave us a tour of her home which is decorated with love. She is a top Avon sales person, and sold Sarah Coventry, along with her husband as top sellers in Florida.

Every nook and cranny is decorated with love.
Our beautiful centerpiece from her garden.

She has a beauty salon in the lower level of her home, and still actively takes customers when she chooses.

I challenge any of you out there to do all this at 89 years of age! Told with her approval.

Our friend is an inspiration to everyone she meets, and lives out her Faith.

Our friend is a Jewell.

On a Hot Afternoon, etc…

Fresh pineapple water to go with fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies, if one desires to indulge in such😁
A cup of the pineapple water tastes great after visiting the treadmill and the elliptical in the fitness room.
There will be more of these this evening!

Meanwhile back at the Cracker Barrel…
These two seniors were enjoying the front porch of the Cracker Barrel sitting in Clemson University logo rocking chairs.
Clemson is favored in these parts being local, along with Furman University and Bon Jones.
A beautiful sunny day up in the 80s😎
Humidity is lower today, and does not feel like a sauna.
Pineapple Bag and Grande’ stayed in the cool interior of the hotel today, and enjoyed the breakfast buffet, cookies, and lemonade.
Staff here at the Hampton Inn are very gracious and welcoming, and, of course, know us by now.

Time to get out and about to find wrapping paper for dishes left by my great-grandmother.
The captain has taken his nap, and now all of us will head over to Lowe’s to get paper and foam pouches to put Blue Willow dishes made in Scotland securely in a box.
The whole set is not there, but there are at least 6 beautiful plates with a few cups and saucers.
They set in my Grandma’s cupboard, and had previously belonged to my great grandma.
They get carried back to Oregon to our daughter who has a 1904 restored house.
Navigator’s mom’s gooseneck rocker is also going along in the pickup with all of us, plus an old churn.
The daughter is delighted!
I wonder who this is, sorta looks like it could be a relative of ours?
It looks like it was taken at Christmas, and it turned up in a collection of my cousins?

This person also looks familiar, and was also in my cousins collection.
Our beautiful Gaelic Aunties and friend.
They had the brogue of the old country.
No one left their home hungry.
Our Mountain was sold, and the Aunties were allowed to live out their life in their old home place in the middle of a Resort.
There was four aunties and three uncles.
Although from a different family, my grandma made bonnets for Sis and I, and we had to wear them in the hot sun in the south.
Red Dirt ruled, and watermelon was King.
Of course, they had those potatoes and greens planted!

More to COME…

Shopping Day You ‘All…

Starting out with a little down home cooking from here at the hotel breakfast…

Starting off the day with just a bite of each…
The birds singing, beautiful sky, it’s going to be another sunshiny day here on the East Coast!

Can’t wait to get started on our adventure today!

Hopefully, without the mosquitoes and chiggers today😟

Seeing lots of friendly faces; even saw a cowgirl making a wish…

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Well we’re going to head on our way; more later.
